One year ago I created the first post on this blog! In celebration of this event I decided a new look was in order. What do you think? To actually see the new design you have to go to the website. Reading through email or an RSS feed does not give you the full effect! I love how this layout highlights the photograpy on the site. I have learned so much over the course of the year and I know I am still just scratching the surface of blogland.
First of all I want to thank you all so much for reading. I love blogging so much I think I would probably continue doing it even if no one ever saw it. The fact that I have a few readers and get a few comments every now and then is just the icing on the cake. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I was trying to figure out what it is I enjoy about blogging….not sure if my words adequately capture my thoughts, but I will give it a try.
- Documentation – ask anyone I have worked with over the years, I am the documentation queen. I love to write and record the what’s, where’s and how’s. This is probably why I have almost always worked in the field of accounting systems and processes because documenting is a standard procedure. I have discovered that many people do not like to take the time to write things down so in my profession there have been many opportunities to do this. For me, writing fits right in with the way my logical and orderly brain works. The thoughts have to be laid out and presented in a certain order. I am almost OCD about this.
- It’s all mine – I can write about anything I want, anytime I want. This is not a job but something I love doing. I have had people ask me if I like to write so much why did I not become a writer. That should be painfully obvious. I have never said I was a good writer, just that I enjoy doing it. Also, there is the part about hating grammar. I have always disliked grammar. It makes my head hurt. Not sure how I produced a daughter that loves it so much. Thank goodness for her though……in one of those rare times that I actually think about grammar in my writing, I would much rather ask her a question than have to look it up.
- Ideas – I have been a “magazinaholic” most of my adult life. I am obsessed with looking at pictures, reading articles and getting ideas and inspiration to make my life better. I am a magazine hoarder and it actually pains me to have to eventually throw them out. I am pretty sure I have never had an original idea in my entire life, but I have lots and lots of ideas that I have found in magazines, talking with other people, looking at pinterest and reading other blogs. This blog lets me share ideas with all of you….it is my own electronic magazine.
The only thing I would like better about this blog is if you all left a comment each time you read it, making it more interactive. Even if you thought it was dumbest thing you have ever read…say that!! I love it when I get feedback, good or bad. Thanks again for stopping by over the last year and please keep coming back, I have a few new plans in the works for Ruminations and Reckonings!
P.S. The About page has been updated also. Take a peak!
Congrats, Mom, on a year of blogging and your newfound mobility and enthuasim for life!
Love the new homepage layout on your blog! I think it’s on East Coast though, as I’m posting this at midnight, not 1 a.m.
Midnight is still pretty late for a work night young lady!! Always a mom! Thanks though for the heads up on the time zone. I think I have this fixed now!
Saying “Hi” from Rocky Mountain land. I don’t always comment but I certainly enjoy reading your blog! I will try and be more interactive from here on out.
Great……I never get to chat with you enough!
Congrats Theresa! I’ve read all of your posts, and I love them. I’m even learning about photography through them. I used my new photography skills when taking pictures of Mike riding the 4-wheeler (advice from your class on photographing a moving object!!). Guess what??? It worked. The background was blurry, but he was clear. It was awesome. Who knew?
Thanks and keep them coming!!!!
I am really glad the pictures worked out for you. You need to send one to me. I have a lot more ideas on photography posts and it really helps knowing someone is interested in them.
Congratulations on your blog anniversary! I enjoy reading what you write, but I am so thankful that I don’t have to read that administrative handbook and month-end procedures book in your photo above – whew!
Hi Theresa,
Your new layout looks great. We out here in Cali also read all of your posts- you are read from coast to coast.
Jer
Jer, I am so glad you all are reading. Let me know what you guys are up to! I have not seen pics of those little boys in a while!
Come on Cheryl, I know you love that stuff! Ask Geraldine….she is singing my praises these days for that documentation. When will the sewing blog be up? I am so looking forward to it!!! Let me know if I can assist in any way. I am by far no expert but I have learned a few things over this past year!
Congrats on your blog birthday! I love your new home page! I can’t believe it’s been a year, I know you’re loving your new mobility!
Happy Birthday to you and your ‘blog’:)
I always enjoy reading about your activities and the family (which I usually have already heard, but love to hear and read about it again). See you soon
